Calligraphy, or the art of beautiful writing, according to the Japanese tradition, is not only a decorative art but carries a philosophical meaning. The calligraphy master creates the artistic work by means of a bamboo brush and Indian ink on rice paper.

Each line, each dot has its own importance. The direction, form and end of the lines, the balance between the elements and even the empty space have a special meaning.
