Mt. Kurama is believed to be the birthplace of Reiki, a type of “energy therapy” which utilizes spiritual elements. The Tengu, long-nosed or beaked creatures believed to be the guardians of the mountain.
Walk on the Sando (sacred path) of Mount Kurama, that connects Kurama Temple to the beautiful Kibune area, filled to the brim with wildlife and seasonal flowers blooming along the river. This mountain trail has a mysterious atmosphere with its giant cedars, exposed tree roots, interestingly-shaped wisteria trees and small shrines along the way.
