Ikebana consists in arranging flowers in a vase or on any other support, to create an asymmetrical, simple, sober composition by emphasizing the elegance of nature. But ikebana is not a simple decorative art, because it is charged with a philosophy.

The origins of Ikebana date back to the 5th century when Buddhist temples were built in Japan. The Buddhist monks who placed flowers on the altars gave birth to a true art.

This private lesson in a machiya is hold by a English-speaking Japanese Ikebana Teacher.
